WoW Forever Launch Week Feedback: Layering, Quest Gold at 60 & Slow Leveling
Two days after launch, the Blizzard forums are full of complaints about crowded layers, slow leveling and a missing quest reward at level 60. None of this is a Blizzard statement. It is player opinion, plus a few leads from Wowhead that we could not confirm in a Blizzard post.
Crowded layers and slow respawns
The thread “Questing is miserable - Layers overcrowded - mobs respawn too slow” (81 posts) was opened on 8 November. The author says leveling zones feel overcrowded and that waiting for mobs to respawn means being out-tagged by a large group. Other players in the thread report camping single spawns in Desolace and abandoning quests because the mobs seem permanently dead.
Other threads from the same day make similar complaints, including “Fix layering there’s too many people” and “Packed layers and extremely low dungeon exp. Cant have both”. Earlier, on 6 November, players posted “Multiple layers converging?” about hundreds of mobs being attacked by other players’ ghosts in Westfall.
Wowhead also reported a broken layering spot in the Thousand Needles harpy cave causing quest competition. We could not read that article, so treat it as a lead.
Blizzard’s own known issues are covered in our hotfixes and known issues post. Phasing and layering reports are also in the launch day issues article.
Leveling pace
“Leveling is soul-crushingly slooow!” (99 posts) is one of the most active threads. The author says quest items from mobs have low drop rates, are not shared in groups and that open-world objects are hard to loot. Replies are split: some agree, others say this is the intended Classic pace and recommend dungeons for XP and loot.
If you are stuck, our leveling guide and best leveling classes cover routes and class choices. The 6 November hotfixes did make some quest item drops more plentiful, see the November 6 hotfixes.
No quest gold at level 60
At level 60, players report that quests give no gold in place of XP. The thread “Gold at 60 for quests” has 132 posts and many “revert this” replies, while “Please keep no gold for quests at lvl 60” has 26 posts from players who like the change.
Wowhead’s headline says Jokerd described it as an intentional change. We could not read the article or find a Blizzard post, so this is unconfirmed.
Auction House deposit
Players complained that listing anything on the Auction House costs at least 1 silver. Wowhead reported on 6 November that the minimum would drop to 1 copper “soon”. Forum posts on 8 November (“AH deposit fix when?”, “AH deposits?”) suggest it was still being discussed. We found no Blizzard post to confirm a date.
Shaman gearing
The Shaman thread “So… how are Shamans supposed to gear now?” reacts to Blizzard’s plan to make Strength Enhancement’s best stat. The details are in our November 10 class tuning article. Blizzard’s post says class changes are planned for Tuesday 10 November.

Frequently asked questions
Are layers overcrowded in WoW Forever?
Many players say so. Forum threads from 8 November describe crowded leveling zones and slow mob respawns, but these are player reports and Blizzard had not replied in the threads we read.
Do quests give gold at level 60 in WoW Forever?
Players report that they do not, and Wowhead says Jokerd called it an intentional change. We could not find a Blizzard post confirming this, so treat it as unconfirmed.
Has Blizzard fixed the Auction House deposit in WoW Forever?
Wowhead reported on 6 November that the minimum deposit would be reduced to 1 copper. We could not read a Blizzard post confirming it, and players were still posting about the deposit on 8 November.
