WoW Forever Launch Day Issues: Zeppelin Portals, Quiet Cities & Invite-a-Friend Fix
WoW: Forever launched worldwide on 4 November, and Blizzard has already answered three of the first launch-day complaints on the official forums.
Lost boats and zeppelins: temporary portals
Players reported boats and zeppelins vanishing “into the maelstrom” for long stretches. WoW Game Developer Aggrend replied in the Zeppelins broken? thread:
- Blizzard has spawned portals near most transport docks, or inside zeppelin towers, to move you between continents if your transport gets lost.
- A proper fix was due “in the morning”. Once it is verified, the portals will be removed.
If your boat or zeppelin doesn’t show up, look for the nearby portal instead of waiting.
Quiet cities and low population
One player posted that Ironforge had only around eight visible people on launch day. Aggrend answered in that thread that Blizzard is aware some areas aren’t “feeling as populated as they should”, and that the team would be “tweaking some numbers tomorrow” to make things feel livelier.
Blizzard did not say what is being changed, so treat the details as unknown until patch notes or a follow-up appear. For how realms and rulesets work, see our realms and rulesets guide.
Invite-a-Friend restrictions fixed
Community manager Kaivax confirmed a hotfix is live for Invite-a-Friend players. Players who joined with an Invite-a-Friend code had been wrongly restricted from:
- certain chat channels
- levelling past 10
- joining guilds
- forming parties
- trading items
Blizzard suggests logging out and back in if you were affected.
Campfire bug and the Pouch of Violet Dust
Wowhead reports that the starter quest “The Great Outdoors” has a bugged “sit near the campfire” objective, which you can complete by using /sit while already sitting. This is from Wowhead’s report only, not a Blizzard post.
Separately, Blizzard is giving away the Pouch of Violet Dust toy for watching four hours of eligible World of Warcraft streams on Twitch between 4 November 4:30 pm PST and 12 November 4:30 pm PST. Wowhead reports it turns your campfire purple and adds an hour to camp benefits. It is a launch-celebration item that expires in early December.
