WoW Forever Launch Patch Notes: Class Tuning, Training Costs & Gamepad (2 Nov)

By Updated

Blizzard has posted the last big set of WoW: Forever development notes before launch on 4 November 2026. It covers the roughly 2.5 weeks since the 15 October build, and it is mostly class tuning. This is a summary of the main points, not every line. It is all beta information and Blizzard says only launch itself is the “true test” of the numbers.

Blizzard’s design stance

The developers say holding each class to roughly Classic power budgets meant every new element had to come at the expense of something else. So they raised damage on classes across the game and increased the health of higher level creatures to compensate. They also say some changes undo hasty reuse of Burning Crusade or Wrath-era solutions.

Their plan from here: apart from bugs and serious outliers, no big tuning changes before the raids open next month. A larger pass is expected once there is data from players levelling past 30. For the earlier class picture see our class changes guide and tier list.

Across all classes

  • Many talents no longer have a reduced trigger chance when you cast low-rank spells. Blizzard still has the penalty (for Arcane Concentration, Frostbite and Fingers of Frost, on ranks more than 12 levels below you).
  • Newly learned spells are no longer added to your action bars automatically.
  • Training costs are rebalanced: most abilities learned at the same level cost the same, and training everything from 1 to 60 costs 206 to 207 gold for every class. Warlocks pay less to cover Grimoires for pets.

Our Hunter, Paladin and Shaman guides cover those classes in more depth, and some numbers in them predate these notes.

Hunter numbers supersede earlier reports

These figures replace the unconfirmed values in our Hunter nerfs report: Blizzard’s official notes now list higher numbers for Aspect of the Hawk and Trueshot Aura than that report said.

Racial changes

Blizzard repeated the racial changes already posted, for completeness. Our racials guide lists them: for example Tauren Plainsrunning up to 60% (not mounted), Orc Blood Fury on a 2 minute cooldown, Troll Berserking for 15 seconds, and Skyborne Read Leyline and Skysight now get a one-hour boost from visiting Ley Lines and elemental convergences. Base stats were also corrected, so Tauren Warriors now start with the proper +5 strength over Humans.

Other changes

  • Bags no longer auto-equip into free bag slots.
  • Gamepad support is now described as functionally complete: movement, spells, interactions and UI navigation can all be done on a controller, with options in Edit Mode and the Options menu.
  • Respawn rates were adjusted in many areas to cope with launch-day crowds. Blizzard says some competition for spawns is expected.
  • Many quests had XP, prerequisites, map markers and bugs fixed. Ruins of Lordaeron dungeon quests now all start at level 15 (see our Ruins of Lordaeron guide).
  • In the Darkspear Islands battleground, dropping the flag no longer gives the “Recently Dropped Flag” debuff.

Player reaction (opinion)

The Shaman Riptide change drew the loudest response in the forum threads we read. In the 97-post “RIP Riptide!” thread, some players say it now feels like a Druid Rejuvenation with a long cooldown; others in the “Riptide what in the heck” thread say they will switch to Priest or Druid. Enhancement buffs were received more warmly. This is player opinion, not a Blizzard statement.

Forever is still in beta until launch on 4 November 2026. Last checked 3 November 2026.
