WoW Forever Dual Spec: Blizzard Considers Unlocking It Before Level 40

Blizzard is considering moving the Dual Specialization unlock below level 40 in WoW Forever. Nothing is confirmed, and the beta currently still uses level 40. Our talent trees guide lists it at level 40 for now.

What was said

On Episode 3 of the WoW: Forever Podcast, the team was discussing tanks and whether you need a tank-specific build for dungeons. Wowhead’s write-up quotes Josh Greenfield saying dual spec is a benefit, and:

“…at level 40 currently. We’re talking about what the right level for that to actually enable is, but currently it’s set to 40. Maybe a cheeky thirty, I don’t know, we’ll see.”

That is a hint, not a promise. Read it as “being discussed”, with 30 as one possibility. The podcast announcement is on the Blizzard forums.

Player opinion

A forum thread asking for dual spec earlier has 160+ replies. Opinions we saw there and in Wowhead’s comments (player views, not facts):

• Some want level 30 or 20, so tanks and healers can quest as DPS and switch for dungeons.
• Others think level 40 is right, arguing most talent trees only come into their own by then.
• The cost is a common complaint. The thread starter says it is 100g, which players feel competes with saving for a mount. We haven’t verified the price from Blizzard, so treat it as unconfirmed. See our mounts guide for what else costs gold.
