WoW Forever Roleplay-PvP Ruleset: Confirmed for Launch on 4 November

By Updated

Blizzard has confirmed a Roleplay-PvP ruleset for WoW: Forever, available from launch on 4 November 2026. Community manager Aggrend announced it on 22 October.

What Blizzard said

  • Blizzard discussed its concerns about a Roleplay-PvP ruleset on the WoW Forever Podcast, but said it was still deciding and watching player feedback.
  • After looking at what it would take, the team “decided to go for it”.
  • Blizzard is working to let you pick the Roleplay-PvP ruleset and reserve names on it when name reservation opens on Tuesday 27 October.

Blizzard has not yet said how the ruleset will differ from the existing PvP and Roleplaying rulesets, so treat it as the combination its name suggests until more detail arrives.

What it changes

Until now Forever had four rulesets: Normal, PvP, Roleplaying and Hardcore. Roleplay-PvP adds a fifth for launch. Our rulesets guide has the full list and the grouping rules.

Players had been asking for it. In one long-running forum thread (player opinion), some feared separate PvP rulesets could end up dominated by one faction each. See our Alliance vs Horde guide.

The beta has ended

Separately, Blizzard ended the WoW Forever Beta at 10:00 a.m. PDT on 23 October, after a final 24-hour celebration in Zephras Isle, Dun Morogh, Elwynn Forest, Teldrassil, Durotar, Tirisfal Glades and Mulgore. Blizzard warned that items and experiences in the celebration “almost certainly” won’t be part of the game at launch.
