If like me you believe in micro transactions for games then this is great news. Without micro transactions then GW2 development could get stunted at every turn due to funding. With micro transactions, people can purchase the things they actually want to buy whilst funding extra guild wars 2 development. I am a big fan.
Sometimes you don’t want to play the game for a full month, but you might play maybe 1 day a week, it is not fair to have to pay for a subscription for a full month when you don’t make use of it, so no subscription fees are great.
One of the big things with Guild Wars 2 is that you can purchase gems for real money. These gems can then be used to purchase items from other people in game. The place to purchase and sell items is called the Trading Posts, “it’s like an auction house but better”.
Hopefully GW2 will combat some of the most frustrating parts of trading systems in current MMOs.

The main benefit of having micro transactions is for the people who spend more time working than playing the game, this helps them get back into the game a bit when they are unable to play for longer periods. Personally I would love for there to be more people able to get back into certain games and get the servers more populated if they want to, just by spending a little money. Why not?
