Mists Of Pandaria: Expansion Detail

So we are under way with the Pandaria preview panel, they are mentioning their key philosophies when trying to create the new WoW expansion, Mists of Pandaria. It is most likely that these will get touched upon further in the panel so keep checking back for updates.

Get people back into the world.
They want to get people back into the world and create a busier atmosphere with in the lands themselves, rather than a massive block of people all sitting inside Stormwind or Ogrimmar. To do this they will be adding more world raid bosses for people to kill and destroy.

Pick content to progress your character.
They want people to be able to progress their character by doing what they most enjoy (I am guessing at max level, i.e. armour upgrades). Some people prefer to do lots of dailies, so these could provide you with valor points, some people want to raid and some people want to just do dungeons. They are looking at all of the ways in which people can acquire valor points to progress your character and not just single out dungeons and raids.

Geek out on different character builds.
With the new talent system they want people to be able to chuck together or sorts of builds and be able to actually play slightly different to the same class next to you. This sounds very difficult balance wise but if they pull it off that will be awesome.

Pandaria Continent

  • Asian Influenced
  • There will be an AH, Bank and Quest Hub.
  • No flying until max level.

The Pandaren start zone will be a Giant Turtle – The Wandering Isle. The lore behind this is that is was a small turtle that one adventurous Pandaren used to get away from Pandaria, one day he came back with a much larger turtle and a house on its back. The turtle has continued to grow and so has the settlements on its back (I assume the turtle never swims underwater).

Pandaria Zones

  • Jade Forest
  • Valley Of The Four Winds

Pandaria Creatures

The Verming are a race much like the Kobold, so expect to see lots of them and expect to kill lots of them as well. They have a huge appetite for vegetables so don’t try to steal their carrots!

Verming

The Mantid is an insect like creature that is more intelligent than your average WoW insect, some of these may be casters along with the usual brutes in every race (They must have huge claws for some reason).

Mantid

The Sha is the negative energy of the world, If you see Pandaren as projecting positive energy, these guys are the opposite.

The Sha

So those are the few more details we have on Mist of Pandaria, stay tuned for even more as Blizzcon continues!
